Learn the fundamentals of songwriting and expand your skills. We will explore a variety of songwriting topics, from how to craft hooks and structure a chorus to developing lyrics that tell a compelling story and creating the perfect chord progression. Learn to use recording software to create demos of your original songs.
Workshops will explore:
Classes meet once a week online for an hour and a half. The last class will be a concert for students to present their original songs or family and friends.

An accomplished musician and educator, Beth Callen holds a Bachelor of Music degree from SUNY Purchase and a summer performance certificate from Berklee College of Music. She has studied with Grammy winner Joel Thome (Frank Zappa), Sam Yahel, and Kenny Wessel (Ornette Coleman), among others.
Beth has played in the pit of several Broadway and Off-Broadway shows including Jagged Little Pill, the 2020 Pulitzer-Prize winner A Strange Loop and Head Over Heels. She also plays with several NYC-based bands and singer/songwriters.
Beth has written and recorded two full-length albums and an EP and was signed to Cordless Recordings (Warner). She's currently writing new material for a project to be released late 2020 or early 2021.
